Following last year, where 15 undrafted rookie free agents made opening day rosters, nine players made NBA rosters this year. The following nine accomplished the very difficult task of not being one of the 60 players drafted and nevertheless managing to find a way to stick in the league regardless. Another interesting trend to point out is that while in the 2005 draft every NCAA player taken in the 2nd round (essentially meaning every player not drafted with the intention of being purposefully stashed overseas) made his respective NBA team, this year four players did not. #40 pick Denham Brown
received no guaranteed money and was cut by the Seattle Supersonics. #53 pick Guillermo Diaz
was stashed by the Clippers in the Czech Republic. JR/Danilo Pinnock
was cut after not having received any assurances as the #58 pick, and in perhaps the most shocking event of the past few days. #31 pick James White
was cut by the Indiana Pacers. Few should be shedding any tears over White, though, as he signed a two year, 1.1 million dollar guaranteed contract over the summer and will therefore be able to double up on contracts both this year and next.
